INS Québec and IVADO join forces to develop cutting-edge expertise in artificial intelligence applied to sports

Montréal, October 11, 2018 — Institut national du sport du Québec (INS Québec) and the Institute for Data Valorization (IVADO) are proud to announce that they have joined forces to develop cutting-edge expertise in artificial intelligence applied to high performance sports.

With support from IVADO, INS Québec will build bridges with Montréal’s academic and industrial experts in data science. The innovations arising from the initiative will enable INS Québec to provide teams training for major international events with programs that reduce the risk of health issues and maximize performance in competition.

“In a few years, nations will stand out in international sports because they were among the first to capitalize on the tremendous potential of artificial intelligence to enhance the technical, scientific and medical support provided to athletes and the experts who help them train,” said Guy Thibault, director of sports science, INS Québec. “The partnership with IVADO is all the more forward-looking since Montréal is already a world-class hub for data science.”

“We are very pleased to partner with INS Québec and its leading experts in high performance sports. The strategic partnership is wholly in line with our applied research activities,” affirmed Gilles Savard, CEO of IVADO. “This promising collaboration will contribute to the advancement of data science in the sports sector, and the findings will secure a competitive edge in international sports, directly benefitting the health and performances of our athletes.”
